The Tsurinoya Ranger is an ultra-light carbon spinning reel built around a full carbon construction — carbon body, carbon rotor and carbon body cover — starting from 187g for the 2000S model. At 187g with 9+1 bearings and 6kg of drag, the Ranger delivers a bearing count and drag capacity that typically comes in a reel 60–80g heavier in competing designs. The 5.2:1 gear ratio is a power-oriented ratio suited to soft plastic, vibe and bottom fishing techniques where retrieve power and line feel under load matter more than fast line recovery speed. Carbon drag washers provide fade-free drag performance under sustained load without the heat-induced power loss that occurs in felt drag systems. Available in six variants across shallow spool (S) and standard spool models from size 2000 to 4000.
Key Features
- Full carbon construction — from 187g — carbon body, rotor and body cover from 187g (2000S) through to 270g (4000); delivering a full carbon reel at a weight that reduces wrist and forearm fatigue on extended light spin sessions without sacrificing structural rigidity under drag load
- 9+1 stainless steel bearings — nine stainless steel ball bearings plus one anti-reverse roller bearing for smooth, consistent retrieve feel; stainless steel bearings for corrosion resistance in both freshwater and saltwater use
- 6kg carbon drag washers — carbon fibre drag washers provide fade-free drag performance under sustained load; carbon drag material maintains consistent stopping power without the power reduction that occurs as felt drag washers heat up under prolonged fish pressure
- Dual propulsion anti-twist line roller — the line roller uses two internal stainless steel bearings for smooth rotation and consistent line lay, reducing line twist on the retrieve — a common issue with single-bearing or bushing line rollers on lower-priced spinning reels
- Bevel shallow spool — the bevelled lip on the shallow spool allows line to peel off cleanly without the coils catching on the spool edge, extending casting distance on lighter lines and braids
- Stainless steel digital gear plate — precision-machined stainless steel main gear for long-term smoothness and strength under repeated heavy-load use
- Screwed-in handle system — threaded handle attachment prevents handle wobble and loosening under load, maintaining a solid feel through the retrieve and fight
- 5.2:1 power gear ratio — lower ratio delivers more cranking torque per handle turn than high-speed alternatives; suited to soft plastics on jigheads, vibe lures, bottom fishing and techniques where sustained retrieve power under load is preferred over fast line recovery
Model Guide
- 2000S / 2500S / 3000S — shallow spool models; optimised for lighter braid line classes (PE #0.6–#1.5) for estuary, freshwater and light inshore applications
- 2000 / 3000 / 4000 — standard deep spool models for higher braid and mono line capacity; versatile for freshwater through to heavier inshore and light offshore use
