Tsurinoya EXCEED 8-Strand PE Braid Fishing Line – 150m | #1.5 / #2.0

The Tsurinoya EXCEED is a precision 8-strand PE braided fishing line on a 150m spool, available in two line classes: #1.5 (0.205mm / 28lb) and #2.0 (0.235mm / 36lb). The EXCEED is built for medium-to-heavy estuary and inshore lure fishing applications where breaking strain, abrasion resistance, and casting performance are critical — targeting flathead, trevally, snapper, barramundi, and kingfish with lures on 4–8kg spinning outfits. Eight strands of high-strength PE fibre are precision-braided into a near-perfectly round cross-section with minimal coating, producing an ultra-smooth surface that flows cleanly through rod guides for maximum casting distance and a round profile that beds evenly on the spool under load. Colour: green. 150m per spool.

  • X8 precision braiding – round, consistent, ultra-smooth — the EXCEED uses eight individual high-strength PE fibres braided with X8 precision technology to produce a near-perfectly round line cross-section with minimal coating; the round profile and smooth surface reduce friction through rod guides on the cast, producing longer, more accurate casts from the same outfit; the consistent round cross-section also means the line seats uniformly on the spool without the flat or irregular lay of lower strand-count braids, reducing the risk of line digging in under load during a hard-running fish
  • High strength – 28lb and 36lb breaking strains — the EXCEED is positioned at the medium-to-heavy end of the PE braid range for inshore lure fishing; the #1.5 at 28lb covers flathead, trevally, and medium snapper on 4–6kg outfits; the #2.0 at 36lb suits heavier inshore applications including larger trevally, snapper, barramundi, and kingfish on 6–8kg outfits where strength is a priority around structure, reef, and heavy cover
  • High abrasion resistance — the X8 fibre technology and tight weave construction improve the EXCEED’s resistance to abrasion from rocks, reef, oyster-encrusted pylons, and rough bottom compared to standard braid; abrasion resistance is critical at the #1.5–2.0 range where the line is regularly in contact with heavy structure during the fight and retrieve; a braid that holds its integrity after surface contact reduces breakoffs and extends spool life
  • Near-zero stretch – direct sensation and instant hooksets — PE braid has effectively zero stretch, transmitting every touch, tick, and tap from the lure directly to the rod tip without cushioning; the zero-stretch property is especially valuable at the heavier line classes where the angler is fishing at longer distances or in deeper water and needs to be able to feel subtle takes and drive the hook home immediately on the strike without energy being absorbed by line stretch
  • Ultra-high sensitivity — the high-strength, low-stretch PE construction transmits vibration and bottom contact information directly through the line to the rod tip, allowing the angler to feel the lure’s action, structure contact, and fish takes clearly even at distance and in depth; this sensitivity is the primary reason lure anglers use PE braid as a main line rather than monofilament or fluorocarbon
  • Green colour – versatile in estuary and inshore water — the green colour provides reasonable camouflage in weed-rich estuary water and inshore reef environments; always use a fluorocarbon leader at the terminal end for near-invisible presentation and abrasion protection at the lure
  • 150m spool – fills medium and large spinning reels — 150m fills most 3000–4000 size spinning reels used in AU inshore lure fishing with usable capacity; provides multiple full fishing sessions before the top section needs to be replaced

Line Specifications at a Glance

  • #1.5 — 0.205mm diameter — 28lb breaking strain — suits 4–6kg outfits with 3000–4000 reels — flathead, trevally, snapper
  • #2.0 — 0.235mm diameter — 36lb breaking strain — suits 6–8kg outfits with 4000–5000 reels — large trevally, snapper, barra, kingfish

Always Use a Fluorocarbon Leader

PE braid is highly visible in clear water and has relatively low abrasion resistance at the terminal end compared to fluorocarbon. Always attach a 1–2m fluorocarbon leader (matched to the line class) to the braid main line using an FG or Alberto knot. The leader provides near-invisible terminal presentation and protects the braid from reef, rock, and structure abrasion at the lure end.
