36T Carbon Solid Tip — Composite Grafted Construction
The CEDAN’s most distinctive feature is its solid carbon rod tip. Unlike a standard hollow-blank rod tip that tapers to a very fine hollow tube, the CEDAN uses a solid carbon rod grafted onto the hollow blank body. The solid tip section is made from Toray 36-ton carbon — a moderate-modulus carbon that is softer and more flexible than the blank body’s 40T+46T carbon. The result is a two-material composite construction where the tip and body have different mechanical properties by design:
Solid tip sensitivity — a solid carbon tip transmits vibration more directly than a hollow tip of equivalent diameter; there is no air column inside the tip to dampen or delay signal; subtle contact events — a bream mouthing a prawn, a soft plastic touching a rock, the difference between mud and sand on the bottom — register more clearly at the grip
Soft tip for light lures — the 36T carbon is soft enough to load and flex under 2.5g lures; the solid tip’s softness allows the rod to “feel” ultra-light lures throughout the retrieve and to absorb the sudden head-shake of a bream or bass on light line without pulling the hook
Hard body for power — the 40T+46T hollow blank body provides the power transmission and casting backbone; the graft point between solid tip and hollow body creates the transition between the two sections
The solid tip is particularly effective in cold-water conditions when fish are lethargic and bites are subtle — improved sensitivity detects takes that would be missed on a standard hollow-tip rod in the same power class.
Blank Construction — 2-Piece vs 5-Piece Models
2-piece models (CA-592, CA-632, CA-6102) — Toray 40T+46T hollow blank; fast or extra-fast action; T1100 Reverse Reinforcement Ferrule at the joint; primary blank for serious finesse fishing where maximum blank performance is the priority
5-piece models (CA-615) — Toray 40T+46T blank in 5-piece travel format; high-tonnage carbon reduces dead weight of the additional ferrule sections; suited to travel, kayak and hiking fishing where compact pack-down length is required
L-M Progressive Taper
All CEDAN models are rated “L-M” — Light power at the tip transitioning to Medium power through the mid-section and butt. The tip loads early under light lures for maximum feel and cast control at 2.5g, while the butt provides reserve power for fighting fish on light line without breaking the leader on sudden runs.
Fuji ALCONITE Guides — KL/KW Frame
ALCONITE insert — Fuji-proprietary ceramic; harder and smoother than aluminium oxide (AlOx); lighter per unit area than SIC, making it the preferred insert for ultralight rods where total guide weight affects tip sensitivity
KL/KW austenitic stainless steel frame — corrosion-resistant in salt water; frame geometry specifically designed to reduce wind-induced line tangle during side-wind casting
Dark Oak Reel Seat
Natural Dark Oak hardwood with distinctive grain pattern that varies between individual rods. Warmer to hold than graphite or synthetic seats in cold morning conditions. Locks the reel foot securely under fishing load.
AAA Cork Grip
Highest standard grade for natural cork in rod construction. Minimal fill, smooth consistent surface. Cork transmits vibration from the blank to the hand more directly than EVA foam, contributing to the CEDAN’s overall sensitivity package.
