Mustad 10757SP Beak Hooks are a high carbon steel bait hook with a drilled shank from Mustad — the world’s largest hook manufacturer, with over 150 years of hook manufacturing history and the brand most widely used by commercial and recreational fishers globally. The 10757SP uses the beak (octopus) hook profile with a distinctive feature: a hole drilled through the shank near the eye. This shank hole allows soft baits such as worms, grubs and maggots to be threaded through the hole and locked in position on the hook, preventing the bait from sliding down the shank during casting and repeated retrieves. Available in sizes #1 to #9 in packs of 40 to 50 depending on size. All variants $19.95.

Mustad — The World’s Largest Hook Manufacturer

Mustad was founded in Norway in 1877 and has been manufacturing fishing hooks for over 145 years. The brand supplies hooks to commercial fisheries and recreational anglers across more than 160 countries and is the OEM manufacturer behind many hooks sold under other brand names. When an angler buys Mustad, they are buying from the source that sets the technical standard most other hook manufacturers benchmark against.

The Drilled Shank — 10757SP Feature

The hole in the shank of the 10757SP is a functional feature, not a decorative one. Soft natural baits — worms, maggots, grubs and similar — tend to slide down the hook shank during the cast and bunch at the bend, exposing the hook point and reducing the natural presentation. Threading the bait through the shank hole before rigging it on the hook body anchors the bait in the correct position and prevents this sliding, maintaining the presentation through repeated casts. The hole also provides an additional attachment point for snell knot rigging.

Key Features

  • Mustad high carbon steel — manufactured to Mustad’s established quality standards for high carbon steel hook wire; consistent sharpness, temper and strength across the size range
  • Drilled shank — hole through the shank near the eye for threading soft bait through to prevent sliding; also provides an additional snell knot grip point
  • Beak (octopus) profile — the beak hook shape provides a wide gap relative to shank length for good bait clearance and reliable hookups on small-mouthed species
  • Barbed — standard barb for secure hook retention through the fight
  • Bulk packs — 40 to 50 hooks per pack at $19.95 regardless of size; cost-effective bulk quantity for extended bait fishing sessions

Size Guide

  • #9 / #8 / #7 — smallest sizes for very fine bait fishing; maggots, small worms, micro bait on light line for small bream, whiting and perch

  • #3 / #2 / #1 — larger sizes for medium bait presentations; worms, prawn pieces and cut bait for bream, flathead and larger estuary species
