Meredith JXS01 T-Tail Shiner Swimbait Soft Plastic – 100mm / 4.8g / 10-Pack

The Meredith JXS01 is a 100mm, 4.8g T-tail shiner style swimbait soft plastic designed for finesse fishing in estuaries, impoundments, and coastal flats. The T-tail (or paddle tail) produces an exaggerated side-to-side tail kick at very low retrieve speeds, generating water disturbance and vibration that triggers bites from bream, flathead, estuary perch, and bass even when fish are lethargic and refusing faster presentations. A slow-sinking formulation ensures the lure descends naturally through the water column on a weightless or lightly-weighted rig, covering the full depth range between surface and bottom on the fall without needing to rush the retrieve. A concealed hook groove along the belly of the body allows the lure to be rigged weedless and snag-resistant, making it fishable through heavy structure, weed beds, timber, and rock without constantly hanging up. High-quality silicone/soft plastic construction delivers a soft, lifelike texture that fish hold onto longer. 17 colour variants. Sold in a 10-pack.

  • Exaggerated T-tail kick — the wide, flat T-tail generates a pronounced side-to-side kick and thump at very low retrieve speeds; bream and estuary perch respond strongly to the slow, wide tail action when they are feeding cautiously and not committing to faster, more erratic presentations; the tail continues to kick and pulse even on a near-stationary sink, producing action with zero retrieve effort
  • Slow-sinking formulation — the lure sinks slowly and naturally through the water column on a weightless rig, covering the full depth range from surface to bottom on a single cast without requiring a sinker or jig head; the slow sink keeps the lure in the strike zone for longer on each drop and allows it to be fished effectively over shallow flats and weed edges where a heavier rig would snag or spook fish
  • Concealed hook groove – snag-resistant weedless rigging — a moulded groove along the belly of the body is designed to seat the hook point flush against the body when rigged Texas or weedless, preventing the hook from fouling on weed, timber, and rock; the hook point is exposed the instant a fish bites, ensuring a clean hookset despite the weedless presentation
  • High-quality silicone/soft plastic body — the soft, flexible body compresses naturally when a fish bites, delivering a realistic texture that encourages fish to hold the lure for longer before rejecting it; the material maintains its shape and tail action through repeated casts, re-rigs, and fish, providing good durability relative to the soft formulation
  • 100mm – versatile estuary size — the 100mm body length is matched to the foraging behaviour of bream, flathead, estuary perch, and bass in AU inshore environments; large enough to draw attention and produce strong tail action, but compact enough to be presented on light finesse tackle in clear, shallow estuary conditions where smaller profiles outfish larger baits
  • 17 colour variants — broad colour range covers natural translucent and baitfish imitation patterns for clear water and bright conditions through to high-contrast solid colours and UV/bright attractor patterns for low light, dirty water, and tannin-stained estuary environments
  • 10-pack value — ten lures per pack provides a full session supply and covers losses to snags and bite-offs without running short; cost-effective for anglers who cycle through soft plastics regularly in snaggy estuary and structure fishing

Recommended Rigs

  • Weightless — Texas-rig weedless through the concealed hook groove; cast across shallow flats and structure edges; the slow-sinking body covers the full water column on the fall with natural tail action
  • Light Jig Head (1–3g) — rigged on a 1–2g jig head for slightly faster sinking and more control over depth; hop and pause along sandy estuary bottom for flathead; slow roll through mid-water for bream and estuary perch
  • Wacky Rig — hook through the centre of the body; both ends flutter and kick independently on the fall; highly effective for bream over rock walls and structure
  • Drop Shot — nose-hooked above a drop shot weight; holds the lure at a fixed depth and allows the T-tail to kick in place with rod tip shakes; effective for suspended estuary perch and deep bream

Recommended Applications

  • Estuary Bream — weightless or 1g jig head over shallow rock walls, flats, and weed edges; slow sink and pause; allow the T-tail to kick and flutter on the drop between retrieves
  • Flathead — 2–3g jig head dragged and hopped slowly along sandy and muddy estuary bottom channels; pause on the bottom between hops to allow flathead holding on the bottom to engulf the lure
  • Estuary Perch — drop shot or light jig head worked slowly through deeper rock and timber structure; slow roll with occasional pauses; estuary perch respond strongly to the T-tail kick at low retrieve speeds
  • Bass (Freshwater) — weightless weedless through impoundment timber, weed edges, and overhanging structure at dawn and dusk; slow sink through the strike zone with pauses on descent
  • Whiting — 1g jig head worked slowly across shallow tidal flats in clear water; slow hop and drag along the bottom; whiting respond to the movement and vibration of the T-tail at minimal retrieve speed
