The Twist 2.0 Design — Two Sections, Two Actions

The Twist 2.0 is a two-section design that fuses two established soft plastic lure formats into a single body:

• Front section — concave head (Twist 2.0 body): the front of the lure has a concave face — a hollowed or cupped geometry at the nose. As the lure moves through the water, the concave face creates turbulence and alternating pressure pulses on each side of the head, generating a lateral vibration that travels through the body and into the tail. The concave geometry also creates balanced lateral resistance across the body’s width, which stabilises the lure’s swimming track and prevents the body rolling or corkscewing at varying retrieve speeds. The result is a body section that both vibrates and swims straight.
• Rear section — twister/curly tail trailer: the rear section is a high-profile curly or paddle twister tail. The tail has a high lateral surface area relative to its width — the curl creates a large face that catches water on each rotation, generating a thumping vibration and wide, rolling action. The critical performance characteristic of the twister tail is that it activates at extremely slow retrieve speeds: the large lateral face generates enough water resistance to start rotating and producing action at near-zero retrieve speed. A lure that produces action at minimal retrieve speed is effective in two specific fishing situations: cold-water lethargic fish that require a very slow presentation, and structure fishing where the lure must be worked slowly through snags and timber without losing action.

The combination of the two sections means the Twist 2.0 produces vibration and stable tracking from the concave head at all retrieve speeds, while the curly tail produces additional low-frequency thumping even at the slowest possible retrieve. Fish can detect both the lateral vibration from the head (higher frequency) and the thumping action of the tail (lower frequency) through the lateral line at distance before they can see the lure.

Trailer Style Construction

The Twist 2.0 is described as a trailer — the tail section is a separate component joined to the body rather than a single one-piece moulding. Trailer-style soft plastics allow the tail section to move with full independence from the body because there is no rigid connection between the two sections. This means the curly tail can rotate and swing in a direction or at an amplitude that the body is not following, creating a more complex, multi-axis action than a one-piece soft plastic of equivalent size. The trailer junction also creates a natural articulation point that mimics the tail attachment of a real baitfish.

Mounting on a Jig Head

The Twist 2.0 is designed to be mounted on a standard jig head. Thread the jig head hook through the nose of the concave head section and out through the body in the standard soft plastic orientation. The jig head weight determines sink rate and depth; the lure’s action is not dependent on the jig head weight and will produce the same concave-head vibration and curly tail action across a range of jig head weights from 7g to 28g depending on the target depth and current conditions.
