Why Use a Sinker Slider

A sinker slider allows the sinker to move freely on the main line between a stop (bead or swivel) and the water surface. In a standard running sinker rig, the slider takes the place of the sinker threaded directly on the line — instead of threading the line through the sinker eye and retying when you want to change weight, the sinker clips onto the duo-lock snap and is changed in seconds with no knot cutting required.

This is particularly useful in conditions where sinker weight needs adjusting during the session:

• Tide and current changes — an incoming tide running harder than expected requires heavier weight to maintain bottom contact; switching from a 30g to a 60g sinker takes 10 seconds with a slider vs cutting and retying the rig in the dark on a surf beach
• Depth changes — moving from shallow to deep water during a boat session requires heavier sinkers to reach the bottom in the same time; sinker sliders make this a quick adjustment rather than a rig rebuild
