Aantal

The SeaKnight SANGE is a CNC aluminium spinning reel available in six sizes from 1000 to 6000, featuring an upgraded asymmetrical rotor design, a beveled spool lip for longer casts and reduced line wear, and a built-in fish alarm. A step up from the ARCHER2 in the SeaKnight range, the SANGE adds the 1000 size for ultralight applications and introduces the asymmetrical rotor construction claimed to increase rotor strength by 30% over a standard symmetric rotor.

Asymmetrical Rotor — Upgraded Strength

The SANGE uses an “Upgrade Asymmetrical Rotor” confirmed in both the parameter diagram and the close-up rotor image. A standard spinning reel rotor is symmetrical — both arms are the same shape and mass. The SANGE rotor is asymmetrical, meaning the two bail arms have different profiles. SeaKnight claims this design increases rotor strength by 30% compared to a conventional symmetric rotor, while keeping the rotor lightweight. The practical benefit is a rotor that can handle sudden impact loads (a hard strike when the bail is open, or a fish running hard on a semi-taut line) without the rotor arm flexing or distorting. The “Light & Power Body Design” label in the parameter image refers to the body’s open-frame cutout construction, which removes material from non-structural areas of the frame to reduce overall weight without compromising rigidity at the load-bearing points.

Beveled Spool Lip

The close-up spool image is labeled “Beveled Spool Designed — Increase Casting Distance, Reduce Line Abrasion.” The spool lip has a machined outward-facing bevel — visible in the image as a flared, angled edge. On a standard square-lip spool, line must turn sharply over the lip edge during a cast, which creates friction and can abrade the line over time. The beveled lip creates a gradual angle for the line to travel over, reducing contact friction at the lip and allowing the line to peel off more smoothly. The result is longer casts with the same effort and less surface wear on monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders. The effect is most noticeable with light lines (4–8lb mono) where lip friction has a proportionally larger impact on cast distance.

CNC Aluminium Handle and Spool

Both the handle arm and the spool are CNC-machined aluminium, confirmed in the parameter diagram. CNC machining produces tighter dimensional tolerances than casting or forging, which matters for the handle (consistent bend angle, no flex under load) and the spool (uniform lip profile for even line lay and consistent casting). The handle knob is PVC for grip.

Note from the spool dimension image: the handle design changes between the 3000 and 4000 sizes. The 1000, 2000 and 3000 use a thinner, pin-style single-knob handle arm. The 4000, 5000 and 6000 use a heavier T-bar handle arm with a larger T-grip knob, suited to the higher drag loads and heavier fish targeted by the larger sizes.

Fish Alarm System

The SANGE includes the same fish alarm (line-out clicker) system as the ARCHER2. The clicker produces an audible sound when line is pulled off the spool under drag, alerting the angler to a run without needing to watch the rod tip. Useful for bait fishing with the rod in a holder, beach fishing with soaking rigs, or any scenario where multiple rods are being fished simultaneously.

Full Specifications by Size

Drag figures confirmed from individual size images. Spool dimensions from the spool diagram image.

  • 1000 — 5.2:1 — Max drag 4.0kg — Spool: 4.3cm OD / 3.5cm width / 1.7cm depth. Ultralight spinning for small stream trout, bream, estuary perch and bass on 2–4lb line. Suited to ultralight rods 1–1.8m. Pin-style handle knob
  • 2000 — 5.2:1 — Max drag 5.5kg — Spool: 4.5cm OD / 2.8cm width / 1.7cm depth. Light spinning for bream, whiting, trout and smaller bass on 4–6lb line. Most popular size for finesse estuary and freshwater lure fishing. Pin-style handle knob
  • 3000 — 5.2:1 — Max drag 6.0kg — Spool: 4.7cm OD / 2.8cm width / 1.9cm depth. All-round estuary size for flathead, bream, snapper and bass on 6–10lb line. Pin-style handle knob
  • 4000 — 5.2:1 — Max drag 8.5kg — Spool: 5.0cm OD / 2.8cm width / 1.9cm depth. Heavier estuary and inshore use; trevally, barramundi, kingfish and snapper on 10–14lb line. T-bar handle knob
  • 5000 — 4.9:1 — Max drag 9.0kg — Spool: 5.4cm OD / 3.0cm width / 2.2cm depth. Surf and rock fishing; mulloway, large snapper, salmon and tailor on 15–20lb line. Gear ratio drops to 4.9:1 for extra torque. T-bar handle knob
  • 6000 — 4.9:1 — Max drag 13.0kg — Spool: 5.8cm OD / 3.0cm width / 2.2cm depth. Heavy surf, rock, pier and offshore; large pelagics, GT, and mulloway. Maximum drag across the range at 13kg. T-bar handle knob

7+1 Ball Bearing System

The SANGE uses 7 stainless steel ball bearings plus 1 anti-reverse roller bearing. One fewer ball bearing than the ARCHER2 (8+1BB) but the bearing count is offset by the upgraded rotor and beveled spool features. The anti-reverse roller bearing eliminates handle back-play and ensures solid, one-directional handle engagement under fish pressure.
