Quantità

The SEASIR RedBull is an 8-strand PE fishing braid in 9 line classes from #0.8 (12LB / 0.14mm) to #5.0 (50LB / 0.37mm). 150m spool. Red. Japan-sourced PE raw materials, upgraded colour-fast coating and seamless weave construction. Floating. Suited to estuary, inshore and offshore spinning and jigging applications across the full freshwater and saltwater range.

8-Strand Construction — Rounder, Smoother, More Abrasion-Resistant

Standard PE braid uses 4 carrier strands woven together. The RedBull uses 8 strands — twice as many carriers, each at finer individual diameter, woven into a tighter, more symmetric weave. The difference in construction produces three measurable improvements over 4-strand braid:

  • Rounder cross-section: a 4-strand weave produces a slightly oval cross-section from the geometry of 4 carriers; 8 strands woven symmetrically produce a genuinely circular cross-section; a round line has less contact area with rod guides than an oval line — less contact = less friction = improved casting distance and smoother line flow under load
  • Smoother surface: finer individual strand diameter and tighter weave produce a smoother outer surface; the surface texture of the line is the main source of friction against guides and water on the cast; smoother braid cuts through the surface tension at the rod tip guide more cleanly and travels through the remaining guides with less resistance; the RedBull’s source specifically describes fast water-cutting performance from the line’s dense, smooth cross-section
  • Abrasion resistance: finer individual carriers distribute abrasive load across more contact points; the outer surface of the woven braid presents more strand-crossing points per unit length, which means any abrasive contact point on rock, reef or structure contacts fewer fibres from each strand and causes less damage per contact; the coating also protects the woven surface from direct fibre abrasion at those contact points

Japan-Sourced PE Raw Materials

The RedBull uses PE (polyethylene) fibre sourced from Japanese raw material suppliers. PE fibre quality varies significantly between production origins; Japanese PE fibres have tighter molecular weight distribution and more consistent tensile properties than commodity-grade PE, which produces more predictable breaking strain at stated diameter and more consistent elongation properties throughout the spool. “Japan Quality” in this context refers to the fibre specification — the line is manufactured in China using Japanese-specification PE carrier fibre.

Upgraded Colour-Fast Coating

The RedBull’s coating is described as upgraded on two points: it produces a smoother outer surface for reduced friction; and it does not fade — the source specifically states the line shows no colour transfer onto a paper towel after 3 hours. Dye bleed from cheap braid coatings is a real problem: the dye stains rod guides, rod grips and hands during early use sessions and can indicate that the coating is water-soluble and will degrade, exposing the raw braid weave to direct friction and water absorption over time. A colour-stable, water-resistant coating maintains the line’s surface properties across its service life.

Line Class and Diameter Chart

  • #0.8 — 0.14mm — 12LB: ultralight estuary; bream, estuary perch; 1000–2000 spinning reels; pairs with 4–7LB fluorocarbon leader
  • #1.0 — 0.16mm — 14LB: light estuary; bream and flathead; 1500–2000 spinning reels
  • #1.2 — 0.18mm — 18LB: light-medium estuary; flathead, bream, trevally; 2000–2500 spinning reels
  • #1.5 — 0.20mm — 20LB: all-round estuary mainline; the most widely applicable class for Australian light estuary lure fishing; 2000–2500 reels
  • #2.0 — 0.24mm — 24LB: medium estuary to inshore; flathead, snapper, solid trevally; 2500–3000 reels
  • #2.5 — 0.26mm — 28LB: medium-heavy; snapper, kingfish on lighter setups; 2500–3000 reels
  • #3.0 — 0.28mm — 32LB: inshore; kingfish, snapper, large trevally; 3000–4000 reels
  • #4.0 — 0.33mm — 40LB: heavy inshore; solid kingfish and offshore snapper; 4000–5000 reels
  • #5.0 — 0.37mm — 50LB: offshore; large kingfish, heavy bottom fishing; 4000–6000 reels

Floating Line

PE polyethylene braid floats — its density is lower than water. For lure fishing, a floating mainline combined with a sinking fluorocarbon leader keeps the lure at the intended depth through the retrieve: the floating braid stays at the surface; the fluorocarbon leader sinks and maintains a straight connection to the lure at depth without pulling the braid down or creating slack in the upper part of the water column.

150m Spool

150m fills most estuary and inshore spinning reels in the #0.8–2.5 range completely. At #3.0–5.0, 150m typically fills 3000–6000 reels to capacity or as a full backing layer. For anglers running a mono or braid backing under the top 150m of PE main line on larger offshore reels, 150m provides the full working section of line that will be in use during a typical session.
