The SEASIR Tinghe is a mid-range saltwater spinning reel in five sizes (2500 to 6000) with a 20kg maximum drag rating across all sizes, reinforced nylon body, gapless aluminium alloy power handle, high-incline spool, stainless steel spindle and targeted sealing structure. 5+1 bearings. 5.2:1 gear ratio. Black. Weight: 229g (2500) to 398g (6000). Suited to inshore estuary, reef and light offshore fishing where a high drag ceiling is required without the cost of a full-alloy heavy-duty reel.
The Tinghe delivers a 20kg maximum drag rating across all five sizes from a three-set drag stack of alternating metal and wool washers. The drag system is built to handle the sudden, high-load runs of large inshore fish — snapper, kingfish and large trevally — while maintaining smooth, consistent pressure through the fight. Most estuary and inshore fishing scenarios operate at a working drag setting of 30–50% of the maximum; at 20kg maximum, the Tinghe’s working drag range comfortably covers the 6–10kg settings appropriate for typical inshore target species, with a full 20kg reserve available for larger-than-expected fish and heavy structure environments.
The Tinghe’s body uses reinforced nylon — glass-fibre reinforced polymer — that the source specification confirms is 34% stronger than standard nylon at equivalent wall thickness. The reinforced nylon body is lighter than an equivalent aluminium body; the 2500 model weighs 229g — very light for a 20kg-drag reel and well within the range for extended sessions without hand fatigue. Reinforced nylon maintains its dimensional stability under normal inshore load conditions; the body geometry holds its shape under retrieve and drag loads, keeping the rotor and gear train in alignment throughout the session.
The handle is machined from aluminium alloy and connects to the reel body with a gapless embedded structure — the same design principle as the higher-end Contra Max. The gapless connection eliminates the mechanical play that standard handle bolt connections develop under repeated heavy retrieve loads; power transfers directly from the angler’s hand through the handle arm to the gear train without absorbing any of the retrieve force in handle rattle or flex at the join. Aluminium alloy is corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant and significantly lighter than equivalent steel handle components.
The spool’s leading edge is angled (inclined) to reduce the exit angle of the line as it leaves the spool during the cast. In a standard spool, the line travels from its fill position upward and over the spool lip edge; the angle between the departing line and the spool lip generates friction at the lip contact point; an inclined (angled) spool lip reduces this exit angle, making the line’s path over the edge closer to straight and reducing the friction at the lip. The practical result is smoother line flow and improved casting distance, particularly with lighter lures where the line exit friction represents a larger proportion of the total casting force; the source specifically notes that “even small baits can be easily cast long distance” from the high-incline spool design.
The main spindle (shaft) is stainless steel for corrosion resistance in saltwater and brackish estuary environments. A sealing rubber ring is built into the top cover above the spool, sealing the spool’s upper entry point against water and dust ingress into the body. The sealing targets the spool seat interface — the highest-exposure penetration point on a spinning reel that is hit by water spray on every cast and retrieve. This is targeted sealing rather than full housing waterproofing, and is appropriate for splash, rain and moderate spray exposure in typical inshore fishing conditions.
After saltwater use, rinse with fresh water (not high-pressure) and allow to dry before storage. The bearing assemblies can accumulate salt residue; occasional light lubrication of the main shaft maintains smooth operation across seasons.
