The Kingdom 3507 Floating Minnow Crankbait is a 50mm/10.5g hard body lure with a diving lip, internal rattle ball and 3D laser fish scale finish. The floating lip-diver dives on the retrieve and rises to the surface on the pause — the key action is the combination of the wide S-swimming wobble on the retrieve and the rise-and-suspend trigger on each pause that imitates a baitfish losing depth control. Suits light to medium spin outfits for bass, flathead, bream and inshore species in freshwater and estuaries. 5 colour variants. $16.95.
Note: 50mm is the body length excluding the diving lip.
The minnow body shape combined with the diving lip produces two simultaneous swimming properties: a tight wobble on the body’s vertical axis and a wide S-shaped lateral swing from side to side on the retrieve. The wide S-action creates a larger pressure wave and more displacement than a straight-tracking minnow, making the lure detectable to predators via their lateral line sense at greater range than the visual profile of a 50mm lure would suggest. The internal steel rattle ball adds an audible component — the ball strikes the inside of the lure body on each change in direction, producing a click that carries through the water and adds a sound trigger to the visual and pressure-wave triggers already generated by the swimming action.
A floating lip-diver sinks when the retrieve is stopped and floats upward when the retrieve is stopped — the opposite of a suspending or sinking minnow. On the pause, the lure slowly rises toward the surface, imitating a baitfish that has lost depth control or is struggling to maintain position. This rising action during the pause can be a significant trigger for following fish that won’t commit on a steady retrieve — the change in direction (down on retrieve, up on pause) creates an erratic, injured appearance that triggers the predator’s strike instinct at the moment of hesitation.
