The Daiwa Exceler LT (2023) is a mid-range spinning reel built on Daiwa’s LT (Light and Tough) platform, positioned between the Legalis LT and Fuego LT in Daiwa’s lineup. The Exceler delivers 5+1 bearings, 12kg maximum drag and Daiwa’s LT weight and line-capacity optimisation across a wide size range from 1000D to 6000D — 23 variants covering ultralight estuary and freshwater fishing through to heavier surf, inshore and light offshore use. Made in Vietnam. The base gear ratio is 5.3:1; XH (extra-high-speed) variants run a faster ratio suited to surface lure retrieves and jigging.
Daiwa LT Spinning Reel Range — Where the Exceler Sits
- Legalis LT ($159.95–$199.95) — entry point to the LT range; metal body construction
- Exceler LT (2023) ($169.95–$209.95) — mid-range LT; upgraded construction over the Legalis, wider size range including deeper D-spool models
- Fuego LT (2025) ($189.95–$219.95) — full carbon frame, rotor and body cover; the lightweight step-up from the Exceler
Size and Suffix Guide
- 1000 / 2000 — ultralight to light freshwater; bream, trout, bass on light line
- 2500 / 3000 — light to medium inshore; bream, flathead, snapper on 6–10lb line
- 4000 / 5000 — medium inshore and light surf; tailor, salmon, trevally on 10–20lb line
- 6000D — heavier surf and light offshore; mulloway, snapper, kingfish on 20lb+ line
- D (Deep spool) — deeper spool for higher mono and braid line capacity than the standard spool of the same size designation
- S (Shallow spool) — shallow spool optimised for lighter braid line classes
- C (Compact body) — smaller, lighter reel body relative to line capacity
- XH (Extra high speed) — extra-high gear ratio for maximum retrieve speed; suits surface lure retrieves and jigging
Gear Ratio Note
The base gear ratio for most Exceler LT models is 5.3:1. The 2000S-XH variant is 6.2:1 — not 5.2:1 as shown in some product images. The 6.2:1 figure is the correct, confirmed specification for this variant.
