The 9KM DWLIFE Bullet Sinker is a 10-piece pack of lead bullet sinkers (worm weights) for Texas rig and Carolina rig soft plastic fishing. Available in five weights: 5g, 7g, 10g, 15g and 20g. Suited to Australian bass, bream and freshwater soft plastic fishing in snag-heavy environments. $12.95–$21.95.
A bullet sinker has a tapered cone profile with a narrow nose and a wider base, threaded onto the main line or leader with the narrow end pointing toward the rod tip. The tapered nose is designed to slide through aquatic vegetation, timber snags and rocky structure without catching — the sinker parts weed and debris as it moves through the water column rather than snagging on it. This profile is specifically designed for Texas and Carolina rig fishing in snag-heavy environments like fallen timber, weed edges, lily pads and flooded structure where standard ball or star sinkers would catch constantly.
The Texas rig is the most common weedless soft plastic presentation for Australian bass and bream around structure. The bullet sinker sits on the main line above the hook, with the sinker’s narrow nose pointing down toward the hook. The soft plastic (typically a paddle tail, creature bait, stick bait or worm) is rigged weedless on an offset hook with the hook point embedded in the bait body. The sinker and weedless hook allow the rig to be worked through heavy timber, weed edges and rock piles that would snag any other presentation. The bullet sinker’s weight determines the sink rate and depth of the presentation — lighter weights (5–7g) for shallow structure and slow sink presentations, heavier weights (15–20g) for deeper water and faster sink rates.
The Carolina rig separates the sinker from the hook using a leader between the sinker and the hook. The bullet sinker slides freely on the main line above a swivel, with a leader of 30–60cm running from the swivel down to the hook and bait. The sinker drags along the bottom while the bait floats freely above it on the leader, creating a hovering, swimming presentation above the bottom structure. The Carolina rig is effective for covering large areas of flat bottom and deeper structure where the bait needs to stay elevated above the bottom rather than dragging through it.
