The SeaKnight Falcon II is a 2.4m two-piece lure rod available in both spinning and casting configurations. Its defining feature is a double-tip system — each rod ships with two interchangeable tip sections of different power ratings, effectively giving you two rods in one. Select the lighter tip for finesse work and the heavier tip for bigger lures and species without changing rods. Blank is 30T+40T multi-layer carbon construction, medium-fast action, ceramic guide rings, and a split EVA and cork handle. Eight variants covering Spinning and Casting in four power-range pairs.
The Falcon II does not come with a single rod tip — it ships with two interchangeable tip sections, each built to a different power rating. The tips share the same butt section and connect via a spigot ferrule. The spigot ferrule image confirms a 1.5cm gap at the ferrule joint by design: the tips are not fully inserted to the base of the female ferrule. This reserved gap is intentional — each time the ferrule is assembled and disassembled the male spigot wears slightly; the gap ensures this abrasion occurs on the blank wall rather than at the ferrule base, extending the usable life of the connection significantly before the joint becomes loose. This is a standard quality construction approach on multi-section lure rods; it does not indicate a defect or incorrect assembly.
The eight variants reflect the four tip-pair options across spinning and casting formats. Each variant includes both tip sections for that power pair:
The blank is constructed from a multi-layer carbon matrix combining 30T and 40T carbon fibre. The T-rating refers to tensile modulus — the stiffness of the carbon fibre per unit weight. 30T carbon is a standard-modulus fibre with high elongation before failure (more forgiving under impact and bend), while 40T is an intermediate-modulus fibre with higher stiffness and lower weight per unit stiffness. Using both in a single blank allows the rod builder to tailor the flex profile: typically the lower-modulus 30T layers provide the structural backbone (resisting breakage under sudden loads) while the higher-modulus 40T layers provide stiffness where sensitivity and tip speed are required. The carbon matrix image confirms the SeaKnight 30T blank is a multi-layer rolled construction with cross-wrapped layers — confirmed as “tough and high strength, lightweight and sensitive, multi-layer carbon material.”
The Falcon II is rated Medium Fast (MF) action, confirmed across all power variants in the spec chart. A medium-fast action rod flexes primarily in the top third to quarter of the blank, with the lower two-thirds remaining relatively stiff. This action profile provides a balance between two competing rod properties: fast-action tip speed for lure animation (minnow twitching, vibe retrieving, surface popper walking) and enough mid-section bend to absorb the shock of a fish head-shaking on the hook without pulling the hook point. Rods with a very fast (tip-only) action lack the mid-section cushion and pull hooks more easily; rods with a slow (full parabolic) action lack the tip speed for precise lure control. Medium-fast is the most common action for general-purpose lure rods for this reason.
The guide rings are ceramic with stainless steel brackets. Ceramic rings have a smooth, hard surface that minimises friction on the line during the cast — reduced friction means less heat and less line damage on power casts, and marginally longer cast distances compared to equivalent stainless steel ring guides. The UL/L and ML/M spinning variants use single-foot (single bracket) guide frames; the MH/H and H/XH spinning variants use double-foot (double bracket) guide frames, confirmed in the description — the double-foot frames provide additional guide stability under higher line loads on the heavier power variants. Casting rod guides are offset with a smaller first guide, appropriate for the tight line path from a low-profile baitcasting reel.
The handle uses a split-grip design combining EVA foam and cork sections. Split-grip handles (forestock + reargrip separated by exposed blank) save weight by removing material from the mid-handle section and expose the blank in the grip region, which improves transmission of bite vibration and lure feedback from the blank to the angler’s hand. Cork provides grip texture in wet conditions; EVA provides impact cushioning and durability where the rod contacts hard surfaces during handling. Handle length at 2.4m: 46cm (spinning) / 48cm (casting), confirmed from the size diagram.
The two-piece construction uses a spigot (internal) ferrule rather than an over-sleeve joint. SeaKnight notes in the product Q&A that the joint “cannot be fully inserted” by design — the 1.5cm gap is confirmed in the ferrule detail image. This is the correct and intended assembly. A spigot ferrule that is seated fully to its base has no material remaining to accommodate the progressive wear of assembly cycles; the reserved gap provides this margin. The result is a two-piece rod that transmits blank flex without the stiff joint node of an over-sleeve ferrule. Do not force the joint fully seated.
