The FishTrip Giant Inline Circle Hook is a heavy-duty stainless steel big game circle hook designed for the largest saltwater species — tiger shark, mako, hammerhead, large tuna, billfish and grouper — where standard carbon steel hooks would corrode or deform under sustained load from a large fish on heavy drag. Stainless steel construction provides superior long-term corrosion resistance over carbon steel in continuous saltwater contact, maintaining hook integrity through multi-hour fights and repeated trips without surface rust. The inline (non-offset) circle design routes the hook to the corner of the fish’s mouth as the fish moves away with the bait, producing a secure lip hookup and dramatically reducing gut-hooking — critical for catch-and-release of large sharks and billfish where minimising injury improves post-release survival. Catch and Release — Large Shark Hook Removal
For safe release of large sharks where unhooking is not practical, the recommended method with a circle hook is to cut the leader as short as safely possible and leader-pull the hook through the jaw from the point direction — the circle hook geometry allows this without the hook catching. Stainless steel hooks may persist longer in the fish than carbon steel, so cutting the leader short minimises the trailing line length. Check current recreational fishing guidelines for your state before targeting large shark species.
